With the rapid development of modern society and industry,Stainless steel is usedwith great amount.Keeping the generally same in performance, to control the cost of thestainless steel has become one of the problems that stainless steel industry need to solve.Based on this background, the200series stainless steel arisen,200series stainless steel is akind of austenitic stainless steel using Mn and N instead of part of Ni, it apply to variousfields.Rare earth elements improve comprehensive performance by combining with otheralloy element, China yields the rare earth element greatly, Trace RE-Ce is added to thesteel to study effects of rare earth on comprehensive performance of204Cu stainless steel,which plays an important role in the development of Stainless steel industry.Effects of rare earth element Ce on204Cu stainless steel microstructure andperformance were studied in this paper. The effects of Ce on204Cu stainless steelmicrostructure and inclusions is studied by observing the microstructure, analyzinginclusions shape and components. The effect of Ce on204Cu stainless steel corrosionresistance is studied by cycle of immersion test, electrochemical measurement andintergranular corrosion test, The effect of Ce on204Cu stainless steel mechanicalproperties is studied by room temperature tensile test and Charpy impact test.The results show that the rare earth Ce can make the grain refinement in themicrostructure, and the degree of grain refinement is gradually visible with increase of rareearth Ce content in steel. Rare earth Ce is added to204Cu stainless steel change the shapeand components of inclusions. But when rare earth Ce content in steel over a specific range,it will produce a larger size of rare earth compound inclusions, which reduces the corrosionresistance and mechanical properties of204Cu stainless steel.With increase of the rareearth Ce content in steel, the corrosion resistance of204Cu stainless steel improvesgradually. But when the rare earth Ce content in steel is more than0.029%, the corrosionresistance of204Cu stainless steel appears a certain degree of reduced. Due to the addition of proper amount of rare earth Ce, the mechanical properties of204Cu stainless steel areobviously improved,204Cu stainless steel with rare earth Ce of0.029%has the bestcomprehensive mechanical properties.
