Flexible intermediate bulk container(FIBC) is a flexible packaging and transportingcontainer, mainly made from polypropylene uniform mixing with a small amount of stableingredients. And it is produced under the processes of wire drawing, kniting, coating, printing,bag making, sewing, waste recycling and packaging. By far, all the processes are highlyautomatic, except the sewing process, which is constrained by the lockstitch sewingmachine’s bottom line’s constantly supplying and can only rely on human labor. With theworkers are pursuiting the quality of life and working environment, the FIBC sewing factoryis facing with the preficament of recuriting enough qualified workers. Therefore, the researchand development of automatic production equipment for FIBC is necessary and urgent. Thispaper aims at the R&D of one key station-the sewing station of bottom pocket.This paper firstly proposed the working process of conceptual design based on theQFD/TRIZ, and detaily analyzed the sewing station of bottom pocket, finished its layout andmodular design, and finished the preliminary design scheme.Secondly, the detailed design, computation, mechanism optimization was finished. Thispaper also set up the double assembly units matching motion model of the rotary drum andtravelling bogie. Besides, the finite element simulation and structure optimization for therotary drum was finished. The mass of postoptimality rotary drum declined by32.84%withguarantee of strength and rigidity.Lastly, the technological process of the sewing station of bottom pocket was proposed.Then the control system scheme and pneumatic circuit was designed, which laid a solidfoundation for the hardware-software design and research of the the sewing station of bottompocket.The bottom pocket’s sewing station of automatic production equipment for FIBCdeveloped in this paper could meet the consumer’s requirements, and was of great practicalsignificance for improving the technological level of automatic production equipment forFIBC.
