Humidity is closely related with people’s living and production. The commonmethod of humidity control includes mechanical and non mechanical types. Amongthem, the use of humidity control material is the most promising approach. It doesn’tconsume any artificial energy. It is an ecological method of humidity control.The significance of humidity controlling material is emphasized in this paper. Itintroduced the classification of various humidity materials and their mechanism. Inparticular, inorganic mineral/organic polymer humidity control composites aresummarized. The halloysite/poly(sodium acrylate-acrylamide)(PAA-AM) composite,hydrotalcite/poly (sodium acrylate-acrylamide) composite and sepiolite/poly (sodiumacrylate-acrylamide) composite are synthesized by inverse suspend polymerizationmethod. In a fixed amount of crosslinker agent and initiator (respect to PAA-AM), Istudied the influence of each variable factor such as the content of mineral, mass ratioof AA and AM, the degree of acid-base neutralization reaction in the absorption anddesorption capacity. In the end, we can find a best technological parameter by XRD,IR, SEM and absorption and desorption experiments.In order to optimize the processing condition and evaluate the humidity controlcapacity, the orthogonal experiments with three factors (neutralization, the content ofmineral and mass ratio of AA to AM) and four levels were designed. Thehalloysite/PAA-AM composite has the optimum humidity controlling behaviors, theabsorption and desorption ratio to1.873g/g and1.618g/g respectively, which is thebest property at present, while the ratio of hydrotalcite/PAA-AM reach to1.250g/g,1.013g/g and the ratio of sepiolite/PAA-AM reach to1.1346g/g and0.9808g/g.
