Humidity is closely related with people's living and production. The common method of humidity control includes mechanical and non mechanical types. Among them, the use of humidity control material is the most promising approach. It doesn't consume any artificial energy. It is an ecological method of humidity control. The significance of humidity controlling material is emphasized in this paper. It introduced the classification of various humidity materials and their mechanism. In particular, inorganic mineral/organic polymer humidity control composite are summarized. The properties of zeolite, polymer are combined to prepare zeolite/polymer humidity controlling material by inverse suspend polymerization. To find the best experiment method, we study the influence of each variable factor such as initiator, crosslinking agent and dispersant concentration in the absorption and desorption rate and capacity. Mechanisms of the humidity control behavior are explained by means of research on the sample. We use SEM to show surface morphology of some samples. Zeolite surfaces are covered by many polymer chains, so they are loosening and easy for moisture absorption and desorption; use TEM to observe the pore structure of zeolite; use XRD to analyze the phase transformation of HDTMA-zeolite. It has no crystal change, the crystal structure of original zeolite are not destroyed; use IR to observe functional group transformation of some samples. Zeolite and PAA are compounded chemically not mechanically. The antiseptic behavior of the sample is tested by the bacteria of E.coli.The composite material synthesized has preferable humidity control properties. The best technological parameter is: HDTMA-zeolite3g, span1.5g, N-NMBA0.15g, K2S2O40.15g. For this sample, the moisture absorption rate reaches up to 100% after 160 hours; the moisture desorption rate reaches up to 120%. All the samples have loosening and porosity structure. Zeolite and polymer are well compounded. Zeolite play a role of moisture channel, so the composite has a higher moisture absorption and desorption capacity and speed. Both Ag-zeolite and Ag-Zn-zeolite have good antiseptic properties in high consistency.
