Sludge is the secondary pollutant during wastewater treatment, whichis harmful without proper treatment and disposal. There are a lot of sludgetreatment and disposal methods in the world. Each of them has bothadvantages and disadvantages, so it is necessary to take the actual situationinto consideration when choosing. To avoid sludge secondary resultedfrom sludge and to reduce the cost of sludge treatment and disposal, it isvery important to analyze and evaluate existing sludge treatment anddisposal technologies.This paper introduces the principles, pretreatment requirements, costsand use of sludge thickening, stabilizing, conditioning, dewatering, dryingand pyrolysis, describes the principles, costs and environmental impacts oflandfill, land reclamation, incineration and using sludge as buildingmaterial, and analyzes the prospect of these methods.
