Stroke is one of the most serious illnesses in our daily life that threatens our health. It is theleading cause that makes people die. It can also lead to physical disability. Most of the stroke patientswill suffer with hemiparalysis. And the therapy for hand function recovery is the most difficult.Orthosis is widely used in the therapy for hand function recovery, however, traditional orthosis isusually big in size and made by rigid material. So it is necessary to design and produce the glove offlexible medical orthosis.According to the medical care requirement, some performance tests of the new materials are donein the issue based on early research. Meanwhile, the design of the glove is renewed. The number ofthe size extends to4(XL, L, M, S). According to the usage requirement, a fixing band is added to thedesign. Besides, several performance of the fabric are discussed in the issue, includingmoisture-penetrability, color fastness, thermal shrinkable property, resilience, dimensional stabilityand so on. The shearing strength of the touch and close fastener and the deformation resisting propertyof the fixing band are also tested in the issue.Heat setting is an important step in final treatment process. Hot air setting and steam setting areused to heat set the fabric. These two heat setting processes are compared to discuss the advantagesand disadvantages, and finally choose steam setting as the better one. The results indicate that theNo.9fabric which heat set by steam setting in the orthogonal test has best performances. It has greatresilience, dimensional stability, and it is bright in color and comfortable in hand feeling. Furthermore,steam setting is more convenient than hot air setting. As a result, we get two preferred plans,respectively: the preferred plan of hot air setting is temperature180℃, time60s; the preferred plan ofsteam setting is temperature120℃, time9min, vacuum degree700mbar.Thermal shrinkable property is a very important indicator to calculate the knitting technology ofthe fabric. When study the heat setting technologies, the influence caused by temperature, time arediscussed in the issue. The results show that dimensional stability of the fabric is better after hot airsetting process with higher temperature and longer time; dimensional stability of the fabric is betterafter steam setting process with high temperature, long time and high pressure, and the temperature isthe most important indicator, the second is time, and the last is vacuum degree.The issue also offers a rough enterprise standard of the glove, and figures up the glove’s cost ofproduction. It makes a good preparation for the orthosis’s industrialization.
