PTT is the abbreviation for polytrimethylene terephthalate, it is a kind of polyester. In the middle of 1990s, the PTT produce became industrialization due to the great improve in synthesize one of the material 1,3-propanediol. The application of PTT product also attracted widely attention .More and more countries and districts begin to research PTT and develop PTT manufactures. Now, many fields such as apparel fabric, carpet material, thermoplastic etc are applied PTT fiber result from a series advantage of PTT fiber. PTT fiber is regard as one of the new fiber in 21th century.PTT fiber is more flexible than PET fiber and rigid than PBT fiber. It performance the merits both in polyester and poly-acylamide. To be a textile fiber, PTT has plenty of advantages such as soft handle, excellent elastic recovery property and dying characteristic, easy care etc. In modern society which concern comfortable, almost everybody favor ofspandex fiber. Early in the 1950s, the polyurethane fiber-lycra developedby DuPont company got widely used. But the high cost and severelypollution of producing polyurethane fiber result in the necessarily ofdevelop other spandex. PTT developer had made high elastic knittedfabric of PTT fiber according to PTT fiber's super resilience and easydying character. So researches on dying and finishing technique of PTTfabrics are inevitable course of those fabrics make for markets.A series of researches and discuss about dying and finishing of PTTknitted fabric have down in this paper, based on the performance of PTTfiber and knitted fabric, and the difference and similar points betweenPET and PTT. At scouring aspect, appropriate scouring agents andprocess are selected to design a orthorgonal trial o Then test the oilremoved rate of each experiment. After analyzed the data, a better souringprocess has educed. At heat setting aspect, PTT knitted fabric been heatsetting under different heat time and heat temperature. To evaluate thequality of the heat setting results, the dimensional stability of PTT fabric,the CDT(critical dissolve time) of PTT fiber, the resilience of knittedfabric, the torn strength of knitted fabric and dying behavior changesbefore and after heat setting are tested. Then analyze the results to findout optimum heat setting condition for PTT knitted fabric. The fabricperformed best after heat setting 40 seconds under 140°Cor 150°C.Atdyeing experiments, three kinds of disperse dyes are used. They are lowtemperature dyes, middle temperature dyes and high temperature dyes. After researches of disperse dyes sorption behavior on PTT short -fiber knitted fabric, and the sorption carve of heating speed, and dyeing temperature and the shade depth of several dyes, the suitable dyeing condition are obtained. After dying, five colorfastness were evaluated: fastness to laundering, fastness to sunlight, rub-fastness, sublimate-fastness and sweat-fastness. We can concluded that PTT fabric dying with disperse dyes has rather high dye update and shapely and colorfastness is wonderful. The dying temperature of E-style dyes just need 100°Cand most SE -style dyes need 110°C, and S-style dyes need 120°C, no additive is ok . The pH value of dying solution to be 4-5or 7 has no affect.During the research on PTT fabric in this paper, the suitable scouring, heat-setting and dying conditions about PTT knitted fabric are found.
