With the improvement of urbanization level, the development of economy andtechnology, the More and more copper clad steel wire products was required. Copperclad steel wire is becoming more and more important in the national economy, wireand cable production are widely used in industry, agriculture, and people’s life. TheXGM2steel was widely made of copper wire, replaced the expensive copper wires, sothe XGM2wire rod core wire with conductive rate as high as possible and as low aspossible mechanical strength. XGM2wire rod product main suppliers in Zhejiang, bydrawing, copper plating process for export. As for TV closed line cable, general exportto Southeast Asia and other countries and regions, but also are exported to thedeveloped countries of Western Europe America, etc.. And the current domestic copperclad steel main manufacturers have Baosteel, WISCO, Shougang, Xing Gang and othersteel mill.It was not allow calcium treatment in Conductive steel XGM2for ultra low carbon,low silicon, low aluminum, calcium treatment, at the same time the billet continuouscasting in process of steel production was considerable difficulty, and the passing rate ofXGM2product in the rolling process is low. The project in new steel wire rod line as theplatform, the development of XGM2products. Main tasks include:According to the characteristics of Conductive steel XGM2, the component ofXGM2was reasonable designed. Carbon, silicon composition control in≤0.04%,manganese composition in≤0.25%,sulfur, phosphorus content in≤0.020%range, wassuccessfully developed305~350MPa for the tensile strength; elongation is32%~ 42.5%; the good comprehensive properties of conductive rate≥16%IACS, satisfies therequirement of deep processing.Points out the main problems in smelting and continuous casting and rollingprocess, The key is to control the oxygen content in the smelting process, the resultsshow that the oxygen content control in20~40ppm can effectively reduce the castingporosity, but also can prevent the nozzle scabbiness. The main problem is low rate ofqualified products and spinning difficulty in the process of rollingIt was analyzed the effect of rolling process parameters on the performance,through the development of two different rolling scheme, it was studied the effect ofrolling process on the performance of XGM2, the results show that, the low temperatureand rolling temperature can not only reduce the difficulty of silk, also can effectivelyimprove the qualified rate of the products.It was determined the optimal process by smelting and rolling test,and throughmass production, results show that, XGM2conductivity qualified rate increased from20%to more than60%, But it is difficult to improve the100%qualified, the subsequentneed to strengthen the process control, improve product rate.
