Study On The Long-term Management Mechanism Of Rural Domestic Sewage Treatment In Taihu Basin

Taihu, the third largest freshwater lake of China, nourishes its rural area with a rapid economic development in this basin. However, the water quality has been damaged with further promotion of social and economic activities, especially for large quantity and increasing speed of rural wastewater discharge. Most sewage has been discharged nearby without a integrated sewage treatment system, which leads to water quality deterioration. The study on rural domestic sewage in Taihu basin has an important practical significance to rural environment remediation in large scale during the period of the "Twelfth Five Year Plan". This dissertation has analyzed current condition of rural domestic sewage, the improvement and actual utility of long-term management mechanism for rural domestic sewage treatment and put forward relevant suggestions on the operation and management of facilities for rural domestic sewage treatment in Taihu basin. Considering practical influence of rural domestic sewage on modernization of rural area and treatment facilities having been built and operated normally in the basin, these points have been stated from multidisciplinary perspective, including sciences of environmental planning, environmental management and environmental sociology.
