The thesis consists of two parts:(1) Copper-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of pyridine N-oxides with organoboron reagents;(2)Palladium-catalyzed regioselective allylation of indoles with allylicalcohols.The first part: Recent progress in the transition metal-catalyzedcoupling reactions of pyridine N-oxides are described firstly. Then,synthesis of2-arylpyridine derivatives through copper-catalyzed directC-H arylation of pyridine N-oxides with organoboron reagents in one potwas studied. And a possible reaction mechanism was investigated.The second part: Recent progress in the transition metal-catalyzedalkylation of indoles is summarized at first. Then, synthesis ofN-allylindoles through palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions of indoleswith allylic alcohols was invetigated. No acid or base was added and thebyproduct is water.
