Traditional Chinese trousers, as one important part of traditional Chinese costume, hasbeen widely spread and used up to now by good functionality and practicality. Chinese trousershave a long history in china, the origin of the northwest fork trousers be called the world’s oldesttrousers, it’s known as the living fossil of clothing.This paper mainly studies the traditional Chinese trousers based on the analysis ondocument literature and real object of Manchu trousers. According to the different shape, Chinacan be divided into the northward minority areas, Han area and southward minority areas.Trousers can be divided into two categories and draw the ichnography and structure diagram bymeasuring, decomposing and reproducing Manchu trousers; summarizes shape and patterncharacteristics of Manchu trousers in Qing dynasty by analyzes shape characteristics andstereoscopic space formed by the flat pattern tailoring in wearing state. Through the aboveresearch, it can provides reasonable basis for the inheritance of Chinese traditional costumes inshape and pattern.Through the study of traditional trousers, sums up the different parts of the traditionalChinese trousers are given priority to with straight line cutting, auxiliary curve cutting, and thereis a part of the trousers include the three-dimensional structure. By comparing their similaritiesand differences, and explore the reasons of their differences, can make a deeper understanding ofthe connotation of Chinese traditional costume, which for the inheritance of Chinese traditionalclothing modelling and structure to provide a reasonable basis.
