Alkyl alcohol/phenol ether sulfonates as anion-nonion multiple surfactants have some applied properties due to their especial molecule structure. In this paper sodium nonylphenol polyoxyethylenated propyl sulfonates (NPSO-5and NPSO-8) were synthesized from allyl chloride, sodium bisulfite and alkyl phenol ether. Then some physicochemical properties and application performance of NPSO-5and NPSO-8were investigated. Surface tension, cmc, wetting ability, emulsification stability and foaming power of the blends prepared from NPSO-n and1227were also studied. Some conclusion could be drawn as follows:(1) With respect to the traditional surfactants LAS and AOS, NPSO-n have excellent resistance to hard water. Even the hard water is more than25mmol/L (2500ppm), NPSO-n still have a good surface activity and application performance.(2) According to the different molar ratio of the blends, the blends of NPSO-n/1227have no precipitation; the surface activity of NPSO-n/1227is improved obviously. When the mole faction of the1227reached0.5, the mixed cmc was lowest and lower two order of magnitude than that of the single surfactant. Through calculating the interation parameters of the two kind of blends, we found:there are significant synergies in the formation of mixed micelles process and the reduction of the surface tension.(3) Foaming power, wetting ability and emulsification stability of the blends prepared from NPSO-n and1227was also studied. The results showed that the blends of NPSO-n/1227also have certain synergistic function in foaming power, wetting ability and emulsifying ability. The application performance is also improved obviously.
