Sully Mixer is used in precision casting industry as a agitator, the main role isto maintain the slurry mixing uniformity. It is different from the traditional mixer onthe working principle. Fluid is pushed by the rotating stirrer on the traditional mixer,for sully mixer, fluid is rotated with the barrel, fluid is agitated by stationaryagitator. Therefore, the stirring effect of the slurry mixer is worse than the traditionalmixer. However, the traditional design method of agitator is to experience and test asthe basis, the design cycle is long and high cost. In this paper, CFD (ComputationalFluid Dynamics)technology will be applied to the study of mixing equipment, forsimulation of fluid motion in mixing equipment is simulated, the flow field shape isdisplayed directly, a theoretical basis is provided for the optimization of the improved.Based on the Fluent preprocess software,L type agitator Slurry mixer andmodified type agitator Slurry mixer were modeled in this paper. meshing and set ofboundary conditions were proposed. Based on fluid dynamics numerical simulationbased on finite volume method, the mesh moving method was used to solve thenumerical simulation problems of moving parts, SIMPLEC algorithm was used tosolve the problem of coupling of pressure and velocity, numerical simulation of theabove two kinds of pulp slurry mixer model was performed. Through a comparativeanalysis on the structure of the internal flow field simulation of these two kinds ofSlurry mixer, we are provided theoretical basis of further optimizations for thestructure of Slurry mixer.According to the production process and design requirements, as the result ofthe critical impact on mixture performance of slurry mixer,three parameters includingtank speed,agitator shape and paddle diameter ratio are set as variable factors. Basedon orthogonal test method Slurry mixer models are designed. models with FluentSliding mesh method are stimulated, the influence of geometrical parameters on theextent of the mixer performance is obtained and the optimal design schemeis acquired as well.
