Because of the existing of welding residual stress,it leads to the crackings anddeformations of the component. often occur to weldments is that there are many weldingresidual stress within them.Cylindrical welded component is one of the typicalcomponents.so it is very important to eliminate the welding residual stress.The traditionalmethod of eliminating residual stress are mainly natural aging, thermal aging andexplosion method.Vibratory stress relief (VSR) is a new kind of technology which mayeliminate the residual stress in metal component with high efficiency,energy-saving,environment protection and low cost.because of its significant limitations, it is still notwidely used in our country. the main problem is that there is no feasible way of VSRdesign parameters,it leads to unreasonable design parameters and can not guarantee thetechnical effect of VSR.So we need to study the excitation frequency, excitation point,the exciting force, exciting time, anchor and other vibration parameters for the weldingresidual stress in theoretical and experimental.The natural vibration mode is one of theimportant parameters of the VSR,scholars from different countries are committing to therelevant aspects,but the conclusions are different. This article takes the tubular weldedcomponent as the main object of study to explore the relationship between the choice ofnatural vibration mode with the eliminating residual stress of VSR. In thisexperiment,modal analysis is used to measure the natural frequency and the naturalvibration mode. The blind hole drilling method and X-ray method are used to measurethe residual stress to of the component before and after VSR. The component is treatedby using the natural mode parameters on residual stress concentrated area with enoughvibration in the component. the results show a higher residual stress reduction rate,over52.7%by the blind drilling method,over30.5%by X-ray method.To sum up,the research conclusions of this article are as follows:there is a fact that the maximum reduction ofresidual stress of component is not by lowest-order natural frequency but by highernatural frequency; As we use the natural mode parameters on residual stress concentratedarea with enough vibration in the component. And the components are treated byvibrating. The best effect of residual stress relief can be obtained.
