ABS plastic plating is widely used in many industries such as automotive andelectronics because of its superb performance and with the amount of ABS platingincreases, the quantity of waste plastic plating is also dramatically increasing. Plasticplating consists of not only plastic but also a lot of metals and it would seriouslypollute the environment if it is not recovered. Hence it is of great importance to lookfor a harmLess way to dispose the waste ABS plastic plating and to recycle copper, nickel. In allusion to the fact that recovery rate of domestic recycled ABS plasticplating process is not that high comparing with advanced process abroad and therecovery process also has pollution problems, we carried out relevant research focuson those facts.First we calculated the electrode potential of the combination of nitric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, composition of sulfuric acid and nitric acid, andhydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid. Thereby we obtained the best combinationof plating solution. Then, we studied the process of copper recovery of filtered stripping solution. From the perspective of over-potential we analyzed the influenced factors of currentefficiency and the recycling rate of copper and then compared those factors toidentify and select the four major factors to operate the orthogonal experiment, finallywe got the optimal process conditions: Current density416A/m2, Electrode spacing1.4cm, Solution circulation flow3.0L/h, Electrolysis time40min.After that, the chlorine gas produced through the electrolysis process back intothe bath to get more metal stripping, we united stripping chloride and electrolyticrecovery of copper during the operation together to form chloridestripping-electrolysis cycle. The effects of different factors influenced thisexperimental procedure are given as follows: Current density416A/m2, Electrodespacing1.6cm, Solution circulation flow4.5L/h, Electrolysis time80min. Using thisprocess, the metal stripping stripping ratio increased more than three times than theprevious method, what’s more, the quality of electrolytic recovery of copper increased three times also. Finally, the influence separation effect of different factors were investigated inthe copper recovering cycle experiments of chlorinated depleting-electrolysis and theoptimal technological condition was carried out: current density,416A/m2; electrodespacing,1.6cm; circulation volume,4.5L/h; electrolytic time,80min; amount ofhydrochloric acid,5.5g; interval,1; C(Ni2+)/C(Cu2+)=2. The entire cycle ofdeplating-electrolytic process was isolated and highly efficient resource utilization. On the other hand, the product quality was improved meanwhile reduced the energyconsumption.
