Currently the1422mm hot strip mill of Meishan Iron&Corp can manufacture the plate blank of210mm thickness steadily, but to the230mm thinkness of different steels and procedures distributions of rolling, whether it can be batched or not requires further analysis and research. In addition, the Meishan Iron&Corp is going to take measures that press more at the tail of the plate blank to solve the problem of nip slip, which will result in the accident of jamming at the finish rolling entry as the strips are too wide, so it need further and particular analysis and research. In order to solve those problems, it is urgent that the Meishan need a practicable research method for rough rolling technology off-line simulation.This paper will combine with the project, optimizing the rough rolling schedule and developing the off-line simulation software of rough rolling technological parameters. The research of this project will have important theoretical and practical significance to hot-rolled production, specific research and development works are as follows:(1) According to the characteristics of hot strip rough rolling process, we build the suitable technological parameters’mathematical models respectively for horizontal rolling and wedge rolling at tail; Proposed a suitable procedures distribution model for stable rough rolling process---alternative iteration integrated equal load distribution method; By analyzing various forms of heat transfer that will cause temperature change during the rough rolling process, we got a model suitable for rough rolling process temperature calculation.(2) Based on the suitable mathematical models, the off-line simulation software for rough rolling technological parameters with graphic user interface was made by the Visual Basic programming tool of Microsoft.(3) Applying the alternative iteration integrated equal load distribution method to the producted steels for procedures distributing, by analog computation of the procedures distribution, it turns out that this method can satisfy the requirements of rough rolling process and formulate the rolling craft appropriately.(4) Applying the off-line simulation software for rough rolling technological parameters to the1422mm hot strip mill of Meishan Iron&Corp production process, by comparing the predict values with the vlues measured at production field then we got:The relative error of slabs’tempretures measured and predicted after every rough rolling pass are within±10℃,1%; The relative error of slabs’ width measured and predicted after every rough rolling pass are within+4mm,0.3%; The relative error of slabs’ rolling force of R1/R2measured and predicted after every rough rolling pass are within7%, and10%of E2; The relative error of slabs’rolling power of R1/R2measured and predicted after every rough rolling pass are within9%, and10%of E2. According to the comparative results, we can know that the software is reliable for producting analog computation.(5) Comparing the predicted values by tail wedge rolling with measured values at production field, the relative errors of slabs’widtht are within±0.3%. The datas prove that tail wedge rolling can satisfy the requirements of rough rolling process and it can be used to prevent the trackslip problem caused by large rolling reduction.
