As a traditional transmission part, gears play an important role in transmission,especially Spur Gears, which have being widely applied by humans. Those gearswhich are used for precision instrument must be made accurately. So we begin tosearch new methods to improve the accuracy of gears. Shaving is a finishing method.It has high efficiency of production and a long life of shaving cutter.General shaving cutter and Finishing Turn-shaving Cutter have many limitations,which restrict the application of shaving cutter. The motion of General shaving cutteris based on the enveloping generating principle and is not continuous. The structure ofcurrent Finishing Turn-shaving Cutter is very complex. Its cutting edge is a spacecurve, which is difficult manufactured and sharpened. At the same time, the ReliefAngle of current Finishing Turn-shaving Cutter is too small. In order to solve thisproblem,an additional Relief Angle is added up to the tools which makes thecalculations more complex and increases the theoretical forming error.This paper is aimed at solving those problems above. Based on the principle ofline contact conjugating and generating line cutting method, I design a new type ofFinishing Turn-shaving Cutter. The structure of it is very simple; the manufacture isvery convenient; there is no theoretical forming error with this method; it can beapplied for the machining of Spur Gear. In this paper, the main job I have finished asfollows:(1) First, the different kinds of gear rough machining methods and gear finishmachining methods are illustrated. Second, the development and present situation ofshaving which include the application of shaving, the development of shaving tool,and the workpiece appear “tooth form concave phenomenon” and the methods ofdressing. At last, introduce the significance and main contents of the research.(2) Introduce the geometrical feature of cylindrical helicoids, the basic meshingcondition of the space-crossed-axeis internal gearing,and the forming principles of current Finishing Turn-shaving Cutter, then the Theory of conjugate tooth surface andthe cutting edge of the generating surface are illustrated. Follows with it is theforming principles and profiling method of the new type of Finishing Turn-shavingCutter. Based on those theories above, the structure of the new type of FinishingTurn-shaving Cutter is designed. At last, the design theory of gear blank isrecommended.(3) In this part, the parameters of the new type of Finishing Turn-shaving Cutterare calculated, and throw three dimensional model and kinematical simulation, we canprove its correctness. Then, the detailed gear blank is designed.(4) The cutting experiment with this new type of Finishing Turn-shaving Cutteris carried on the simulation software of VERICUT. Throw the machining simulation,we get the gear. The detect result shows that the gear is an involute gear.From what has been discussed above, include the theoretical analysis, thestructure design and its analysis, the cutting experiment and the detecting resultillustrated in this paper. All of those indicate that: the structure is simple and withouttheoretical error; what’s more, the fabrication is easy and the precision is high; it’sconvenient to increase the efficiency of production. So it is valuable to apply it toindustry production.
