In recent years, with the development of the society and strengthening of peopleto the green environmental protection consciousness, the non-toxic harmless coatingsbecome consumers the best choice. Consumer’s demand is becoming more and morestrict, coating industry in the industry also faces the big challenge in China. In recentyears, Texanol alcohol ester (2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoiso-butyrate) iswidely used in coating of film forming additives. Because of Alcohol ester is greenenvironmental protection, good film-forming performance. Using it as a film-formingagent in the emulsion paint makes good flow property and the flow resistance, goodcolor, and significantly reduce the glass transition temperature of polymer, it is a goodsubstitute for the current commonly used film-forming agents. So the study on theproduction process of alcohol ester twelve has become the present an urgent request.This paper for the synthetic method process of alcohol ester twelve are studied,through reading a large number of literature, we understand synthesis process ofalcohol ester twelve is complex in the general industrial, and production rate ofalcohol ester twelve is very low. This paper is based on isobutyaldehyde as rawmaterial, sodium hydroxide agent as the catalyst synthesis for the synthesis of2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate. And the process of four reactionconditions is single factor experiment including: concentration of catalyst, catalystdosage, reaction temperature, reaction time. The operation condition of the fourconditions are determined: catalyst concentration is47%(mass fraction); Dosage ofcatalyst is6g; Reaction temperature is20℃; Reaction required the time is30min.Synthesis conditions of twelve alcohol ester were studied by the single factorexperiment and orthogonal experiment method. Orthogonal table of4factors and3levels determine the concentration of catalyst, catalyst dosage, reaction temperature,reaction time four factors optimum level and the optimal combination. theexperimental results show that the synthesis of alcohol ester twelve optimumtechnological conditions are as follows: the concentration of catalyst was45%, the amount of catalyst is6g, the reaction temperature is30℃, the reaction time is40min, which is basically consistent with the results of single factor experiment,orthogonal experiment show that concentration of catalyst concentration is on themaximum for alcohol ester yield effect, the remaining conditions are theexperimental temperature, reaction time and catalyst dosage. The results of repeatedexperiments showed that the highest yield of alcohol ester twelve was75.12%, theaverage yield was74.18%, and the experimental subjective reproducibility was good.Out target product2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate wasanalyzed and characterized, we use a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), IR to characterize the target product, the results showed that the product isconsistent with our goat.
