Research On The Foreign Trade’s Influence On The Environment Of Hubei Province

Since reform and opening up, the foreign trade is developing rapidly and at the same time led rapid growth in the economy of Hubei province. But the environmental pollution is also increasing year by year in Hubei province, the environment problem is increasingly highlighted. Hubei province has to coordinate the relationship between the foreign trade and environmental protection.First of all, the study summarize the research at home and abroad and introduce the general theory about the impact of foreign trade on environment. Then discuss the current situation of the foreign trade of Hubei province, including the trade scale, trade way, the type and level. Then introduces the situation of environment of Hubei province by industrial pollution, pollution control, water environment and atmospheric environment. In the empirical analysis, this paper firstly,1986-2012, the Hubei provincial level time series data, based on the VAR model of Hubei province’s foreign trade and industrial "three wastes" emissions for empirical research. The results show that exports to positive co-integration relationship between the industrial "three wastes" emissions, i.e. foreign trade increased emissions of pollutants, while imports and industrial "three wastes" emissions have reverse cointegration relationship between the import reduces the pollutants discharge. Then select level city, Hubei province in1986-2011panel data, based on the research of Kuznets hypothesis results are similar, in most cases, the export increased pollutants, while imports slightly reduced emissions. At the same time, the result also shows that economic growth but also to reduce emissions, but between environmental pollution and economic growth in hubei province temporarily no inverted u-shaped relationship. Finally on the basis of theory and empirical conclusion further coordinated development of hubei province’s foreign trade and the environment are proposed.
