With the rapid development of Chinese economy, people’s living standard has significantlyimproved. People’s demands for the daily textile goods have become more and more higher leveland these new demands come from both the civilian and military fields, one of which is the winterclothes. The thermal insulation interlining used in the traditional winter clothes are mostly thickand bloated, and just can keep warm which is the most basic function. Nowadays people need thenew type thermal insulation interlining which is not only light but also warm.Based on the domestic and international studies of thermal insulation materials, combinedwith the status of thermal insulation materials used on the market at present, aimed at theenvironmental characteristics in the high-cold area of our country and the requirements of thewinter clothes, this paper establish the idea of more material combination to design and developnew lightweight insulation flocculus. And with the application of lightweight flocculus as the maininsulation layers, this paper design and develop new cold-proof coat to replace the current militarycoat with the idea of multiple layers combination.With the full use of the high specific surface area of micro polyester fiber, the light and warmproperties of hollow polyester fiber, the good elasticity of three dimensional crimped fiber, thenormal polyester fiber’function as a framework in the flocculus and the low melt point polyesterfiber’ adhesive effect in the flocculus, this paper has trial-produced new type lightweight insulationflocculus. After the research of new flocculus’ comfort properties, compressive properties andthermal properties, lightweight flocculus have low permeability rate, high moisture permeabilityrate, good compression-resilience property and high thermal resistance. Through the analysis ofthe test results, the proportion of fiber in the lightweight insulation flocculus is be confirmed. Withthe application of lightweight flocculus as the main insulation layers, the main and secondaryinsulation layers and fabric of the cold-proof coat are been selected and the coats are been trial- produced. Finally the total thermal resistance is tested by thermal manikin and the true wearingeffect is researched between the current wool coat and the new cold-proof coat in Mohe (high-coldarea). The new cold-proof coat achieved very good heat preservation effect on the premise ofsubstantial weight loss.
