With the rapid development of China’s economy, significantly speeding up the process of urbanization, urban infrastructure maturing. However, due to urban population density, commercial development, heavy traffic, especially in recent years, the growth rate of the number of motor vehicles has exceeded the pace of construction of urban infrastructure, resulting in some urban noise pollution, traffic noise has become a city of noise pollution the main source.The effective management of urban traffic noise pollution is imminent.In this paper, Hohhot city road traffic noise as the research object, through access to information, on-site monitoring and data analysis tools, the status of urban traffic noise pollution is evaluated, In this paper, Hohhot city road traffic noise as the research object, through access to information, means of field monitoring and data analysis of the current situation of urban traffic noise pollution is evaluated on the spectral characteristics of urban traffic noise,24hours sound level changes and different road noise pollution characteristics of urban roads and other traffic types equivalent sound level were analyzed find the distribution of traffic noise in the vertical direction, conclusions are as follows:1. The road traffic noise of Hohhot is in better levels, however, exceeded the sections showed an increasing trend. 2. The noise spectrum characteristics of urban trunk roads and secondary roads are basically the same, are mainly concentrated below400Hz in the low frequency,a peak in the vicinity of63Hz. Urban freeway noise spectrum in the low and mid ranges are distributed, which peaked in the vicinity of the low frequency63Hz, the band peak at1kHz.3. Road traffic noise variation with time:3:00to5:00is the lowest value; at8:00to9:00,11:00to12:00,5:00to6:00in the afternoon,10:00to11:00on the night, respectively will form four higher values.4. The vertical distribution of road traffic noise:When the floor rises, road traffic noise gradually increased, when reach a certain height, gradually decline.5. in different road types, the highest equivalent sound fast road, followed roads and secondary roads.
