Virtual Assembly(VA) is one of main ways that modern enterprises improve assembly efficiency, reduce assembly costs and shorten product development cycle. All activities and processes of VA are inseparable from the support of assembly information. Assembling information is an important part of virtual assembly system, the integrity and integration of which directly affects the quality of virtual assembly. In this context, a virtual assembly information management and modeling systems is developed, achieving the virtual assembly information management and then building an assembly information model for assembly sequence planning.In this paper, the general structure of virtual assembly information management and modeling systems is introduced, and the structure and function of each component modules are defined and described.Through the analysis of information needs, information sources and information acquisition method in virtual assembly system, assembly information is acquired by utilizing the secondary development of SolidWorks and the first traversal algorithm of assembly tree. And then, the assembly information is stored and managed by using data base technique and Microsoft Access database platform, which provide support for assembly process planning and assembly simulation to achieve the reuse of information.After the extraction of assembly information, several typical assembly information models are annalysed, and then a assembly hierarchy connection graph is established for the assembly sequence planning. In this model, assembly-level information is introduced to the assembly connection graph, which simplified the assembly connection graph. On this basis, some key data structures of assembly hierarchical connection graph model are studied, and ultimately the assembly hierarchical connection graph model and its corresponding adjacency matrix are generated automatically. The model provides support for generating the assembly sequence by using cut-set method.Finally, take diesel oil transfer pump for example, the generation process of assembly hierarchical connection graph model is analysed and the virtual assembly information management and modeling system is verified. Then the generated model is applied to assembly sequence planning by using cut-set method, verifying the validity of the assembly hierarchical connection graph model.
