Blast furnace has played a very important role in the world steel industry as the major equipment in ironmaking. Blast furnace longevity can not only improve the economic benefits of enterprises, but also guarantee the workers’ security. Therefore, it has been a further goal to extend and predict the blast furnace life for researchers.The blast furnace hearth can be damaged for dozens of reasons during the period of blast furnace’s working. It may lead to serious accident if the erosion of the blast furnace hearth reaches at a certain level. So, predicting the condition of the blast furnace hearth is very important. The prediction of blast furnace lining erosion belongs to an inverse heat conduction problem. Three-dimensional model of lining erosion can reflect the actual situation of the blast furnace best. Pro/ENGINEER and ANSYS software are combined in this paper to design the calculating system based on the three-dimensional way. Main contents:1. After reading a lot of literatures about inverse heat conduction problem and mastering the heat transfer theory, this article has given these three kind of steady heat conduction equations that are derived and summarized the basic analysis types of lining erosion. According to the thermal measurement conditions, every erosion diagnosis technology principles is described in this article.2. This paper makes secondary development in Pro/E software with the Pro/Toolkit.It can establish the model automaticly with the coordinates or temperature. Meanwhile, the model can be transferred to ANSYS for more operation later, when the model is ready.3. When the model has been created, the ANSYS software can carry the calcuting out conbined with Pro/E. The value of the temperature measuring points will be derw when ANSYSY gets the analysis of the model done. The bad points’ coordinates will be shifted by some certain step. When the new coordinates of the points are prepareed, the model can be reconstructed and be analysed again. This system will repeat this process until all the points meet the precision. So the three-dimensional inverse method has got used in erosion diagnosis for hearth lining in blast furnace in the system.4. The system will be applied to the caiculation for the blast furnace hearth. Having all the right point and their coordinates, then the thickness of residual furnace hearth can be calculated. And these statics can provide some practical technical data for the safety in the production.
