This article is from the view of the practical applying of Mining Excavator Slewing Bearing provided by the TAIYUAN HEAVY INDUSTRY CO.,LTD, carrying a more in-depth research on the contact characteristics between tapered roller and raceway. It mainly includes the following aspects:Setting mechanical excavator design theory specified the most unfavorable conditions as the calculation conditions, according to the original model’s structural parameters, material properties and the forces provided by TAIYUAN HEAVY INDUSTRY CO.,LTD, we can calculate the maximum force suffered by slewing device and the maximum average load suffered by raceway. Applying Hertz line contact theory, analyze the contact Stress between roller and raceway, educe that with the increase of the roller radius Contact Stress decreases.Based on the software of ANSYS we research the roller and raceway contact characteristics. Studies have shown that both contact stress and Von Mises stress appear concentration in both ends of the roller. Trends in the middle part are the same as theoretical analysis. The largest Von Mises stress appears at the Indian of the roller, too. While the maximum Von Misses Stress is in the sub-surface.On the basis of previous studies, We carry out further research on the deep hole tapered roller. Researched the contact deformation, contact stress and Von Mises stress by finite element analysis. Compared the analysis results with the general tapered roller, we get that the new deep hole tapered roller is better than the normal tapered roller.Research on the contact characteristics between deep hole tapered roller and raceway under the different hollowness. Using the optimal design theory, we regard the hollow degree k as the design variables and regard the Von Mises stress and contact stress as the objective function. By considering the roller’s structure, we can determine the range of the k. According to the analysis of the results, we get that the optimal hollowness is0.4. To some extent, reducing the possibility of contact fatigue occurs.
