Nanometer material is known as the "21century most promising materials". Particularly nanometer ZnO possesses special properties, which is widely used in the industries of pottery, coating, rubber and so on. But for the current situation of applied research, there are still some drawbacks with its application; nanometer zinc oxide is still need to be improved. With developing on the application of the graft polymer surface, using the polymer to be the surface modification of nanoparticles has made great progress. Live Polymerization caused from surface will be an important method to solve material surface probiem. So research on the application of the zinc oxide development has very important significance. At present, most of modification methods are subsequent modifiction for particle which has formed. The modification process is synthesis, washing, drying or roasting, scattering, surface activation and modification. The disadvantages of this method are process complex, tough conditions, high cost, difficult to industrialization. In this paper, we use ion exchange resin as template, synthetize zinc oxide by using ion exchange method, and characterize it.Using chemical modification of surface grafting technology to induce reaction between reactive polymer chain and particle surface active groups, which make stearic acid and polyacrylamide grafted to the surface of nanoparticles respectively, the ZnO that is synthesized successfully and surface modified is characterized.Firstly, zinc oxide precursor was synthesized in particle dispersion system with strongly basic anion exchange resin as hosts and template of sink anion, zinc sulfatc as raw materials. Secondly it is modified by stearic acid and polyacrylamide respectively. Thirdly strong acidic cation resin and the nanometer zinc oxide precursor also modified by stearic acid and polyacrylamide respectively. Finally, control law and mechanism of surface modification of nanoparticles were research, which provide new research ideas and theoretical basis for the research and synthesis of new nano materials.
