Casting is a metal hot working process more than6000years. With the development of the modern science and technology, on the quality of castings requirement enhances steadily. Traditional sand riser and insulating riser has been use can’t meet the feeding needs of cast for performance limits. Therefore, the work to develop a new type of insulating riser has more and more got the attention of people.This paper identified using a low cost, pollution-free and environment-friendly material to manufacture insulating riser after reading a lot of information and analysis the existing insulating riser, identified using a low cost, pollution-free environment-friendly material insulating riser. Through a large number of investigations of market and enterprises, the paper has developed two new production of insulating riser:(1) New foam bead insulating riser:Using magnesium oxychloride gelatin material as the binder, industrial dust as resistant insulating material, polystyrene foam bead as adding material, and using the principle of bubble bead heat shrink capacity, form a closed cavity in the riser wall, to reduce the riser of bulk density and improve the insulating performance of riser. Specific quality ratio is that the quality of the magnesium oxychloride gelatin material: industrial dust:polystyrene foam^1:0.26:0.13.(2)New self-exothermic insulating riser:By analyzing the composition of industrial dust we can know that it contain components (graphite and iron oxide)that can react to supply heat and a large number of floating beads. So industrial dust is a good insulating material, we can use it to improve the thermal insulating properties of the riser. Specific ratio is:46%magnesium oxychloride gel materials, industrial dust46%,8%additives.To test the performance of the new type of insulating riser in the foundry enterprise, and compare to the performance of the insulating riser beening used by enterprise now. Under the same experimental conditions, the feeding efficiency of insulating riser beening used by enterprise is12%, the feeding efficiency of the new bubble bead insulating riser is34%and the feeding efficiency of the new self-exothermic insulating riser is47%. So the two kinds of new type insulating riser feeding efficiency, respectively, is the insulating riser beening used by enterprise three and four times, Two new insulating riser is superior to the performance of enterprise current heat insulating riser.The two new kinds of insulating risers made in this paper, using the pollution-free materials, at the same time consume a lot of industrial dust, do the recycling. It is not only to save the cost of emission and transport of dust and the cost of purchase insulating risers for enterprises while protecting the environment, achieving the green casting.
