In order to solve the problems of stainless steel drilling with chip breaking hard,andimprove the processing efficiency, a carbide multi-facet has been designed by choosingreasonable tool geometry parameters and establishing a mathematical model for drill point inthis subject, with drilling test, a more excellent carbide multi-facet has been studied. The gundrill device has been re-assembled, with which the improved test was done for carbidemulti-facet drill,and then compared multi-facet drill with twist drill,which showed that whendrilling1Cr18Ni9, the superiority of drilling of carbide multi-facet can be brought into fullerplay than twist drill, including chip shape better, small cutting force, low wear for cutting tooland high durability. Suitable parameters for carbide multi-facet in drilling stainless steel havebeen found, When the cutting parameters are in25.12m/min,0.20mm/r,28.26m/min,0.25mm/r,34.54m/min,0.25mm/r, good chip breaking,short chip and short conch chips canbe gained.
