A new collector named DZN-1was synthesized in this paper, with duodecimal acids and chlorine as raw materials, and its collecting performance was studied to single quartz and hematite, artificial mixed minerals (different ratio of quartz and hematite) and mixed magnetic concentrate of the branch factory of Qidashan Concentrator.And then its adsorption mechanism on quartz and hematite was explained by measurements of IR、SME、Zeta potential and TG.Results of IR and’H-NMR showed that the major component of DZN-1was α-Chloro duodenary fatty acids (CH3(CH2)9-CHC1-COOH). The flotation results of single mineral showed that the pH value was11.52、temperature was13℃、dosage of CaCl2and DZN-1was33.33and266.67mg·L-1respectively, the recovery reached98.5%;the flotation results of artificial mixed minerals indicated that the temperature was13℃、pH value was11.52and the dosage of starch, CaCl2and DZN-1were200,33.33and266.67mg·L-1, the grade of iron concentrate was66.33%and the recovery reached94.36%;the flotation results of mixed magnetic concentrate provided by Diaojuntai Concentrator showed that when the temperature was25℃、pH value was11.52, the dosage of starch, CaCl2and DZN-1were600,200and800g·t-1respectively, the grade of iron concentrate was66.75%and the recovery reached80.85%;the open-circle flotation experiments were carried out and the results of the mixed magnetic concentrate of the branch factory of Didashan show that the grade of iron concentrate was66.77%and the recovery reached of iron concentrate was77.72%, the grade of gangue was8.43%;the closed-circuit of the mixed magnetic concentrate of the branch factory of Didashan were also carried out and the results show that the grade of iron concentrate was65.38%and the recovery reached of iron concentrate was89.56%,the grade of gangue was13.00%and the result was coincident with the branch factory of Qidashan Concentrator;to sum up, the collector DZN-1was worked well in low temperature.By calculation of electro negativity and1gP of the α-chlorocarboxylic acids, a-bromiccarboxylic acid and lauric acid molecular, their differences such as polarity, hydrophilic-hydrophobic were analyzed. The results showed that the introduction of chlorine atom improved the hydrophilicity and the section width of molecular, which were connected with collecting performance. As well, the tests of IR and Zeta potential showed that the main adsorption ways in which DZN-1adsorbed on quartz were physical-adsorption andchemic-adsorptionand hematite were physical-adsorption and chemic-adsorption. According to this, the paper simulats the way how DZN-1adsorbed on quartz under pH=11.5after being activated by Ca(OH)+and was how DZN-1adsorbed on hematite under pH=4.00simulated in the paper.
