Phenolic resin has been found an increasingly wide utilization in industrial field for itscheap raw material, the simple synthesis process and the excellent properties could meet therequirement of many industries.phenolic resin as the binder of superhard grinding tools for itsexcellent adhesive properties,heat resistance and unique anti-abltive in superhard abrasiveindustry.But there is some deficiency of phenolic resin as the binder of superhard grindingtools,for example,the quality stability of superhard grinding tools could be influenced by thefluctuation of phenolic resin performance index, then reduce the quality stability of grindingtools, and it is not conducive to promote and the use of resin superhard grinding tools.In this subject use five kinds of resin include three same kinds and another two differentkinds resin to research the influence of the fluctuation of water content,the degree ofprepolymer (fluidity and gel time) and the aging property to the stability of strength hardnessand grinding performance of grinding tools.we found that the resin could absorb water fromthe surrounding environment during storage and then the performance of resin would declinesignificant, when the water content less than1.5%,the quality stability of the resin grindingtool is best.gel time and fluidity is the behavior of prepolymer degree, when the degree ofprepolymer in a suitable rang that fluidity during32~46mm,gel time within70~90s,then thequality of grinding tools could be in a relatively stability range.In addition,the mechanicaland grinding properties of resin splines could be have great changes after all kinds of resinwere aged by ultraviolet aging,the erosion of oil soluble grinding fluid and water solublegrinding fluid and the hot oxygen aging. the study found that the methene and hydroxymethylof the resin is very sensitive to the ultraviolet light; when the resin structure contains polarmolecule or group,the abrasive resistance of oil soluble grinding fluid with goodperformance,that means its quality stability well in oil soluble grinding fluid.when the resinstructure contains nonpolar molecule or group, the quality structure of the abrasive is well inwater soluble grinding fluid.the impact of eat oxygen effect on resin mainly for oxidation ofthe ether bond of resin.The trend of mechanical and grinding properties of abrasive influenced by the change ofwater content,the degree of prepolymer and the aging resistance performance werefound.The control range of each performance of resins to guarantee the quality stability ofabrasive were preliminary determined.and the theory basis of abrasive quality stability influenced by resin performance index were found by using of infrared analysis andthermogravimetric analysis.
