With the increasing exploration of mine resources, the early warning and control technologies of mine accidents warning are backward compared with the mining technology. More and more attention has been paid to the studies on Internet of Things technology, whose application in industrial production have played a major role in improving production efficiency and in ensuring production safety. This study was conducted in the context of the heated studies on Internet of Things. Based on the requirements of mine safety warning, the current study designs and implements the collecting and uploading of mine environmental data. The transmission of personnel and equipment information, the real-time uploading of alarm information as well as the real-time issuing of instructions from the dispatch center are all specific studied. At the same time, the mining enterprise should monitor various environment parameters, including the temperature and the humidity and some gas such as carbon monoxide and methane; some channel or valves should be opened and closed intelligently; As well as continues locating the staff underground.The entire system consists of four parts:Label, Reader, the remote dispatch center and Inter-layer Management Host for Mining Monitoring and Management System. Labels are worn by mine workers with three functions, namely, the personnel security alarm, the sending of heartbeat packet and the processing of instructions from the remote dispatch center. Readers are placed in a specific area in the mine operating environment, serving three functions of receiving and uploading the personnel and environment information, of sending the information of the heartbeat packet, and of processing and issuing the instructions from the remote dispatch center. The Wi-Fi network created by a Reader covers a range of Labels. Two Readers are connected with each other through wired cascade. A Reader integrates its previous Reader’s uploaded information and uploads it to the next Reader. The remote dispatch center receives all the uploaded information and operates according to the categories of the information. On the other hand, the remote dispatch center controls the operation of the system by sending instructions. Inter-layer Management Host is a integrated cluster node. It acts as a cluster node and also a special UPS for power supply.This paper focuses on the data collecting and uploading terminal composed of Labels and Readers, the realization of wireless communication of the Wi-Fi module and Inter-layer Management Host for Mining Monitoring and Management System. Sensor data is in the form of analog data, designed to test the coordination ability of the uploading of different data.The low-power MCU-NXP LPC1768which has a variety of operating modes and uses the ARM Cortex-M3core is selected for the system. The UART-WiFi module supporting Ad Hoc network is also selected. When it is used in conjunction with RS-485serial, the transmission rate will be up to a Mhz level. Inter-layer Management Host has an industrial embedded system platform by high cost-effective ARM Cortex-M3MCU and implements UART/Ethernet Converter by using RT-Thread embedded operating system. The tests show that the system runs well and has good scalability. Therefore, it is a system with a wide application prospect.
