In our country, the coal production is an important part of energy production. In recent years, the frequent occurrence of mine accidents is not only a serious threat to miners’ safety and property, but also causes enormous losses to national economy. It often produces a great deal of combustible gas such as methane when the mine accidents occur. So the power supply system will be cut off to avoid the second disaster after the mine accidents. This kind of situation will make the communication system not work and bring great challenges to the subsequent mission of searching and rescuing at the same time. Therefore, it will be very important to design a kind of video transmission network that does not depend on the network facility or the power facility and can be set up quickly. The video transmission network should be set up quickly when the mine accidents happened, it can make the command personnel grasp the situation of mining damage and the flow of personnel quickly, and then command the rescue workers to conduct the search and rescue work effectively. The video transmission system is based on the wireless Mesh network which doesn’t need the complicated wiring work and maintenance work. Once the mine accidents occur and the power systems close down, we could trigger all the wireless Mesh network devices immediately and set up a kind of communication network that can transfer video, images and so on. The system would provide the reliable security for the maintenance rescue work. The V-AODV protocol of the proposed Mesh backbone network is simulated. The load balancing strategy of this protocol reduces the rate of network packet loss effectively and improves the network throughput, which can meet the large amount of data communication tasks. And then test the Mesh backbone network node, the connectivity and self-healing ability in the real environment. The results showed that the Mesh backbone network has great self-healing ability. Finally, the transmission capacity of real-time video stream in the network is tested. The back video can play smoothly in the video client software, which proved that the Mesh backbone network nodes can meet the demand of video communication tasks.
