Melt transportation was researched according to the spinning process. There is an inhomogeneity of the composition, temperature, pressure and velocity after the previous process. In order to homogenize melt before it flow in the spinning box, static mixer must be assembled in the tube.Because of the high viscosity Non-Newton fluid, we need to select the proper static mixer-Kenics and LPD, then introduce their structure and operating principle. Their flow field is analyzed so that they are fit for pet mixing. Set four blades for the static mixer according to the blade number’s influence to the turbulence intensity. Select the Hybrid type after researching the results of the Kenics, LPD and hybrid type.Pressure drop and heat exchange efficiency decide the static mixer performance. Calculate the pressure drop of Kenics and LPD by using the empirical formula. After that, we can get the hybrid pressure drop. Then optimize it by numericalsimulation. Get the length based on its pressure drop. Elicit LPD’s Nu based on Kenics’s Nu. Then we can calculate the Nu of the hybrid type by using numericalsimulation. Verify its adaption by comparing the three Nu.Optimize the hybrid structure based on pressure drop, heat exchange efficiency and residence time, then select the optimal structure.
