For strip steel products, the thickness accuracy is the most important measure, it directly affects the quality of the product and the percent of pass, thus affecting the steel production enterprise brand image and the production efficiency. Automatic Gauge Control System (AGC for short) is the core of the modern rolling mill thickness Control System, and is an important symbol of modern mill equipment’s level.In this article, we use the product of Tangshan steel company1700mm four high rolling HSM machine AGC system as the research object, and is a representative product in our company mainly for the following research work:(1) Combining with the operation condition of the1700mm rolling mill AGC, we study the basic theory of AGC and summarize the main factors which affect the accuracy of thickness in the process of rolling.(2) Analysis of the principle of the control function of mill hydraulic AGC system and the control theory, established the main dynamic element in the hydraulic AGC system of basic equations, deduced and established oil cylinder, servo valves, servo amplifier, the characteristic equation and transfer function of sensors such as component, and the transfer function of typical check calculation. The specific parameters of the transfer function formula is more accurate, detailed, lay the foundation for the subsequent simulation, mathematical calculation of relevant project has a certain guiding significance.(3) Previous studies based on MATLAB/Simulink platform, lay particular stress on theoretical formula is derived, which involves many factors and complicated. This paper, by using AMESim advanced modeling and simulation platform for the simulation of systems engineering, rolling mill AGC model and the hydraulic control system model is established, and the actual prototype of hydraulic AGC equipment is very close, intuitive and easy to understand, to analysis and modification.(4) Application the product’s technology parameters in the simulation model of each element, using AMESim software of hydraulic AGC dynamic model in simulation analysis in an all-round way. We summary the influenc and dynamic characteristics of HAGC and the main factors that control precision. Through the study of this article, we have established a relatively comprehensive, accurate and complete HAGC control system simulation model of hot rolling mill products.The important conclusions will be used for our company’s future similar products’s manufacturing and researchment, which has important practical significance.
