Today, climate change has become a common problem faced by human being. It has the characteristics of the transnational, with the wide and deep scope of influence. It is related to all aspects of each country’s political, economic, social and other interests, related to the safety of our common home. Therefore, jointly coping with the adverse effects of global warming, saving our survival homes, has become the consensus of the international community.In1979the first world climate conference held, the international community on the issue of global warming, has reached some milepost international agreement such as the "United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change" and "Kyoto Protocol" the agreement lays the foundation for the following climate conference. In2005the "Kyoto Protocol" formally entered into force, thus the international society has entered into the post-Kyoto era.On the one hand, the "Kyoto Protocol" provides only a reduction task for theose developed countries and not for developing countries, which has aroused strong dissatisfaction among the US-led developed countries. Therefore, developing countries led by China undertaking quantified emission reduction obligations will become the objectives that developed countries try to achieve in the post Kyoto era.On the other hand, in recent years China rapid economy and strength grow fast. The rapid rise of emerging countries led by Chinese also to a certain extent the challenge Western led political and economic pattern. But the low utilization rate of the domestic energy and the irreasonable energy structure, resulting in the increasing greenhouse gas emissions. In terms of rising greenhouse gas emissions, China has become the largest emitter of greenhouse gases. Therefore, the international community require that China should undertake emission reduction obligations. Based on this background, this paper analyzes the carbon emission reduction facing China and China’s response in the post Kyoto era. This paper mainly divides into three parts:introduction, text, conclusion. The first chapter mainly carding conference on climate negotiations, defining the post-Kyoto era. International climate negotiations are divided into three stages:the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, as well as the post-Kyoto era. The second chapter, mainly discuss the problem of carbon emission reduction that China faces. First of all, the problem of responsibility and reduction ratio, who should bear the responsibility for climate change, and the proportion. Secondly, China’s pressure to reduce carbon emission; thirdly, the cooperation dilemma facing China. The third chapter mainly analyzes the countermeasures of China about the carbon emission reduction in the post Kyoto era. such as maintain and promote negotiations; change the idea, set up the mechanism; deepen and broaden bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The fourth chapter is the conclusion part, insist that China should seize the opportunity, to maintain development space at the same time to develop emission reduction target, and should undertake international responsibility.
