Flexible roll-die forming machine, developed by my research group, is a kind of new equipment for sheet forming process, whose working process is to extrude the steel sheet gradually along the die by rollers. The process of flexible forming requires multi-axis motion and synergic movement, which can be realized on the basis of every changing velocity and acceleration. A dynamic optimal design process for this machine can not only improve the operational reliability and dynamic response characters of its mechanical systems, but also achieve multi-axis motion and synergic movement, and guarantee systematic motion of the flexible roll forming. Intelligent Optimization Method has advantages of wide suitability and no sensitivity analyses and these features make it to be an effective way to solve the dynamic optimization problems of the mechanical systems. The aim of this paper is to solve the dynamic optimization problems about one pass system of the flexible roll-die forming machine, and the tasks have been done are shown as follows:First, the fifth pass of the flexible roll-die forming machine was chosen as a dynamic analysis object. Then the mechanical model was established, and the dynamical differential equations were also created by Lagrange Equation.Second, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) combined with penalty function method and boundary treatment was improved on the basis of the completed design of the flexible roll-die forming machine. The combination of the PSO and dynamic optimization design were applied to some parts of the flexible roll-die forming machine. Through MATLAB programming and computing, dynamic optimization analysis of the system was conducted.Finally, the whole model was established by using SolidWorks software, and the virtual prototyping experiment of the mechanical system was implemented through the Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems (ADAMS), which could verify the effectiveness of the optimization results.The value of simulation results and optimization results, come from the above research work on the system, is quite close. These results mean that we have achieved the goal of optimizing and verified the effectiveness of the PSO. As a result, the dynamical optimization results from the PSO applied to the flexible roll-die forming machine are correct and have important engineering application value. The completed research work has scientific sense and reference value for further researches on the flexible roll-die forming machine.
