The technology of flexible cold roll forming has become research hot spot in the field of cold roll forming, and the productions made by roll forming have wide prospect in engineering. At the beginning of this century, the research work on finite element analysis to the flexible roll forming process and equipments of flexible roll forming had been done in several countries. We began to work on flexible roll forming for several years and have developed the single-axis flexible roll forming machine. After that, we start to make the double-axis flexible roll forming machine.The double-axis flexible roll forming machine invented by North China University of Technology is the platform of this thesis. By the experiment of double-axis roll forming, the control laws of forming rolls to form the double-axis variable cross-section are analyzed and then the core techniques are mastered which would occupy the leading edge of flexible roll forming.First the joint simulation technique is used to analyze and verify the control strategy of the forming roll to form the double-axis variable cross-section sheet. Then the result of simulation would help to realize the actual control of forming rolls which would greatly shorten the time of test. The control system basing on Virtual Instrument is founded to control the forming rolls of the double-axis flexible roll forming machine. The flexible roll forming of five-slope double-axis sheet has been completed, and the control laws are summarized by a great quantity of experiments. The precision of the tract control is analyzed to found the law of flexible roll forming.
