With the progress of industrialization and the rapid increase of vehicles in the city,the concentration of ozone in the atmosphere has been growing apace recently.As a strong electrophilic reagent,ozone could attack unsaturated compounds,and then destroy the structure. Therefore the growth of ozone in the atmosphere has impacted on dyes,resulting in their fading. This phenomenon has drawn much attention,and many governments have proposed their demands on textile products’ color fastness to ozone in the atmosphere,which has a negative influence on Chinese export of textile products.In order to solve this problem,a set of ozone exposure device was constructed according to the ozone exposure chamber for elevated temperatures and relative humidities above 80%of GB/T 11041-2005.In our study,methods of improving vat dye’s color fastness to ozone were discussed,and a polyurethane antiozonant was prepared.The polyurethane prepolymer with NCO terminal groups was synthesized from toluene diisocyanate(TDI) and polyethylene glycol(PEG),and influencing factors this reaction were discussed.Then the polyurethane prepolymer was reacted with polyamine,and influencing factors,e.g.molar ratio of NH2/NCO,reaction temperature and time,feeding methods and species of polyamine,were investigated in detail.Finally amine terminated polyurethane was developed which could improve color fastness to ozone of vat dyes noticeably.Due to the poor washing durability of amine terminated polyurethane,epichlorohydrin (ECH) was introduced to it.So an antiozonant was prepared at the end,which performed well in the tests of washing durability.The application of antiozonant was also discussed in this paper.Factors such as curing temperature and amount of antiozonant were discussed and a proper process was gained.It was proven by results that color fastness to ozone of cotton fabrics dyed with vat dyes could be improved noticeably by the antiozonant developed in this paper while few negative influences were observed.
