New challenges are taken to firm managers by the global economic integration, gradually vigorous market competition and collaborative Relationship among different parts. Only depends on the leader can not adapt to the gradually vigorous market competition, managers need work as a team. As a specific form of teams, executive team is very important for the survive and development of firms, and more and more researches are taken about executive team and business performance.Although classical "TMT theory" discloses the relation between the top management team characteristics and business performance, but there is not a consistent conclusion about this relation. The researches about the relation between the Top management team characteristics and coporate performance can help us in building executive team to improve business profitability. In recent years, many researches through researching inside, outside variables of the top management team characteristics and medium variables for the relation between executive team and coporate performance. And these researches got very different conclusions because they did not consider the effects of difference among industries. To eliminate the effects of difference among industries, this article takes electric power industry as research objective. Based on the TMT theory and other researches, this article discusses the relation between the top management team characteristics and coporate performance, and makes empirical study about the relation between power industry executive team and coporate performance.
