Spatial structure of the city agglomeration reflects its development degree, development stage and development process. The city agglomeration development necessity comes with the change of its spatial structure, while, the optimization of the spatial structure is definitely benefit to perfecting urban function. So, studying the present situation and the characteristics of spatial structure of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone City Agglomeration has important significance in seizing the chance to changing Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone as the growth pole of Jiangxi province, promoting regional rise and realizing regional economy coordinated development. Meanwhile, considering the importance of the ecological environment in the development process of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone, the article has studied the matching degree of urban carrying capacity and their urbanization degree of the main cities in the area. The following are the main research result:(1) The population of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone is in the trends of increasing, and the main cities as well as their surrounding areas are the places whose population grows fastest. This phenomenon shows that it is a trend that the population gathers to the centre cities, but the trend is not obvious.(2) The economic growth of this area has experienced two stages:the fist stage was from 1990 to 2000 which was the period of rapid growth for the core cities, in this stage, some of the main cities like Nanchang, Jiujiang were developing at an speed which was faster the average level, and the second period was from 21centery, in this period, the core cities already has a certain scale, and begun to show the ability of stimulating the development of surrounding areas.(3) To some extents, the spatial pattern of the Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone shows the characteristics that the cities growth relatively centralized along roads(4) Analyzing from the characteristics of the scale structure, the town distribution of this area is dispersive, the difference degree of the population distribution is huge, and monopoly status of the primary city becoming stronger; from the centrality of random distribution of the Spatial Structure in this area, it shows the fractional characteristic which means the centre city has a strong radiating capacity and attraction to the surrounding areas; from the proportionality of the Spatial Structure, both the information dimension and capacity dimension are close to 1,which shows the cities mostly presents a kind of line type distribution, from the correlation of the Spatial Structure, the space distribution of the cities are of fractional characteristic, and self-organization evolvement in Spatial Structure has optimized trend.(5)The Resources and Environment Geordie Coefficient of this area is 0.334,which shows us that the urban carrying capacity in Jiangxi matches well with its development degree of urbanization.; secondly, for one hand, the Green Urbanization Coefficient of cities like Nanchang and Jiujiang are greater than 1, which means the ration of city population in those cities are higher than the ration of city carrying capacity and the scale structure of the cities don't match their environment and resource structures; and for another hand, the Green Urbanization Coefficient of those cities like Fuzhou, Jingdezhen, Xinyu and Yingtan are less than 1, which show the urbanization of those cities haven't reach the high develop level and there a still a great space to enlarge the city scales.
