The Study On The Evaluation Of State

Now, man is being faced with ecological and socio-economical contradictions and crisis. Sustainable development has been the current trend of economic development for all the countries in the world. While the assessment of sustainability is a critical issue and a frontier in the research area of sustainable development.First of all, this thesis has conducted a comprehensive review of the theory of sustainable development and the evaluation of sustainable development, which has been based on extensive and all-round research documents. Then the state-trend of sustainable development evaluating indicator system has been designed considering the following principles such as comprehensiveness, simplicity, scientific and so on. The evaluating indicator system has five subsystems including the population, the economy, the society, the resources and the environment, which has 45 targets in all.Next, an empirical analysis has been carried on aiming at study the state—trend of sustainable development in Nanchang which is taking this evaluating system as the foundation by using the principal components analysis and data envelopment analysis .The empirical analysis has two levels, which is the time dimension and space dimension. For the time dimension, the paper analyzes the trend of sustainability of Nanchang city. Overall, Sustainability of Nanchang increased much from 1998 to 2007. All the subsystems'sustainability has upward trend except the resources subsystem. We should pay more attention to it. For the space dimension, the paper compares Nanchang with the other cities in Jiangxi Province and central provincial capital cities, which is for the purpose of making a simple analysis about the current state of Nanchang'sustainable development. The analysis shows that the sustainability of Nanchang City is strongest within the scope of Jiangxi Province, while in the central provincial capital cities is in a relatively backward position.In a word, an objective evaluation of Nanchang's sustainable development was given from both transverse and lengthways analysis. It helps us seeing the achievements of Nanchang sustainable comparing with before and seeing the gap comparing with other provinces. This will not only help to solve the confliction between environment and economic development in Nanchang which has long been caused by long-term traditional socialist economic development mode, but also provide some reference value for other areas and the whole Jiangxi Province.
