A Study Of The Effects And Suggesting Of Nanjing-Anqing Inter-city Rail On Economic And Social Development In Ma'anshan

In order to make a better understanding of the impacts of Nanjing-Anqing inter-city rail on regional economic and social development, this paper considers Ma'anshan city to be the research unit and mainly examines weather and how Nanjing-Anqing inter-city rail plays an important role on Ma'anshan economic and social development. Therefore, the spatial structure theory and the SWOT analysis were used to make a vertical comparison of ma'anshan's economic and social development with data in the past three years(2006～2008), and used to make a horizontal comparison with Nanjing, Wuhu, Hefei and Tongling. The purpose is to identify the opportunities and threats produced by Nanjing-Anqing inter-city rail to Ma'anshan, and the strengths and weaknesses of accumulated resources and capabilities possessed by Ma'anshan. Moreover, an AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis is then used to quantitatively investigate the opportunities and threats related to Ma'anshan economic and social development, and the findings show that the opportunities are more than threats. The last but not lest, based on the results from SWOT and AHP analysis, from both economic and social development perspectives, related strategies and suggestion are then provided to capture opportunities, response to threats, enlarge strengths, and weaken weaknesses. These strategies and suggestion have largely practical implications.
