As a pillar industry of national economy, iron and steel industry plays an important role in the economic and social development. Currently, The main problems are the low concentration, excess capacity, and ineffective about the product mix. Baosteel as the leader of Chinese steel companies, by studying the development strategy of expansion, it may provide an effective reference for the industry.In this text, by analysing the scale of expansion and strategic layout of Baosteel, diversified industrial mode of development, the way that Baosteel get the bigger and stronger is shown before readers. Affected by many factors, horizontal mergers and acquisitions have become the main realization of Baosteel's expansion. How effective integration into the enterprise environment of Baosteel, the choice of corporate mergers and acquisitions and strategic development positioning are the key. Through analysis, the proposed size of the concern about expansion of iron and steel industry, also needed for the effective development of diverse industries to support the iron and steel industry, the main business of steel can be extended forward and backward.
