The Study On International Competitiveness Of Chinese Maritime Service Trade

Since the accession to the WTO, China has join in the procession of globalization profoundly, meanwhile, Chinese trading item has been developing miraculously. With the rapid development of merchandise trading, services trade has been in the procession of fast growth. Maritime services trade, which is one of the most important traditional parts of services trade, is also increasingly active. Nowadays, Chinese has been one of the top maritime counties. However in the procession of maritime services trade developing, there are still several problems confronted with it, especially when we come to other powerful maritime countries, Chinese maritime services trade is still in inferior position. What more, as the performance of WTO commitment, Chinese shipping market is opened completely, which surpassed the developed countries. Excessive open market makes the Chinese shipping companies difficult to operate. Briefly, Chinese maritime services trade may face to the problem of lack competitiveness which blocks the development of it. This paper is to study the competitiveness of Chinese maritime services trade which include the situation and problems exited both in shipping industry and trade, which would be benefit to deep research.Firstly, this paper defines the conception of maritime service trade competitiveness. Secondly, we discuss the applicability of competitiveness theory, moreover we compared the analysis of comparativeness and competitiveness and come to the conclusion that the competitiveness theory is suitable for this paper. However, the evaluating of the maritime service trade competitiveness in hand still need to be improved, for the single index evaluation methods are failed to convey the core of competition theory.At last, this paper mainly found the competitiveness evaluation index of maritime service trade by AHP method. With repeated analysis we choose 14 index in 22, for which we analysis the top 15 powerful maritime countries'competitiveness indexes. Through the empirical result, we find that Chinese maritime service trade competitiveness position is not match to the present position of the range in merchandise fleet and the scale of market, which is in the lower position of the range. When come to the compositions of competitiveness we can find that the ability of company contending and macro policies in shipping are the main obstacles to improve Chinese maritime service trade competitiveness. With regarding to the problem exited in Chinese maritime service trade competitiveness, this paper argue that China should promote the operating ability of shipping company, develop domestic authoritative research institutions, and optimize the supervision system and policy support.
