The Investigation Of Firm Growth Focusing On Small And Medium Firm In Shunde

This paper did a research from firm confidence, the ability of acquiring chance in market, the inner management and knowledge management, based on data from questionnaires. There were four parts in this paper:Part one, Refine the research area. This paper divided the small and medium firm according to the criterion of the National bureau of statistics and recognized growth firm through firm's scale and firm's will.Part two, given the point from Resourced Based View of firm, Institutional Economics View and Operational Management View, the Nature of Firm was defined as a set of resources which could self-manage and allotted resources in the markets. From the define of the firm, the growth of firm was recognized as the growth of set of resources, the growth of ability on allotting resources in markets, the growth of ability on self-managing.Part three, Empirical study. In order to get more information from the firm, this paper set up a questionnaire consisted of 29 questions from four parts according to the nature of firm growth. From the data of 6 growth firms within Shunde, the following results were found:the confidence in growth firm was very high, the ability of acquiring chance in market was strong, the knowledge management was poor and the employee were not think highly of inner management.Part four, Explanation. The high firm confidence due to firms, entrepreneur and firms cluster. The strong ability of occupying market share due to clear business model, easily gain resource and strong marketing. The low score of inner management was due to full of instant command, disorganizing and the inconsistent growth. Low degree of knowledge management was because of less known of knowledge management, the less chance of cooperation and the hardship of setting up mechanism in knowledge management.
