Study On The Model Of "Weak City-Strong County" Under The Influence Of Regional Spatial Differentiation

With the constant reform of China's economic and political institution, the decentralization of power has become an indispensable element during the economic development process. In this context, city-region relationship was re-examined based on various forms of interactions between them; and it was also redefined as a new spatial organization form as well as a new way of interaction. Accordingly, urban development should be considered from a broader regional background. During this period, as an economic and spatial phenomenon, the model of "Strong County-Weak City" is not a single case. However, such model plays a vital role in Chaohu City's future development and its spatial formation. The essence of "Strong County-Weak City" model indicates that disparities between central city and its environs, including economic and spatial variations, are shown in space. This article chooses regional spatial differentiation as the basic theory for the analysis of Chaohu City's particular spatial formation, after analyzing the economic spatial differentiation in Chaohu city and the region that it's located in, it discusses how the economic spatial differentiation of the cities along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province influences Chaohu city's development. Meanwhile, an exploration is carried out from the perspectives of Chaohu's economy, administration and space, which intend to explore the driving force behind the "Strong County-Weak City" model and the specific spatial organization. Finally, on the basis of the case study, the article puts forward some strategies for Chaohu City's future development.This paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction, and it mainly introduce the research background, the aim, methods and the definition of related concepts, meanwhile it brings forward technical route of this article. Chapter 2 is the literature review part that states the basic theories. Chapter 3 analyzes the current situation of Chaohu city's spatial differentiation from the regional dimension and urban dimension by quantitative analysis. Chapter 4 explores the formation mechanism of Chaohu city's "Strong County-Weak City" structure. Chapter 5 puts forward some strategies for Chaohu city's future development. The research findings and the prospects are summarized in Chapter 6.
