The western world has stepped into postmodern society since 1960s.Consumption culture is its Characterization and dominant culture. The research of postmodern consumption culture moves from the periphery of science into the center with no doubt。In China, Reform and Opening policy has been performed since 1978.AS a result, postmodern society began to take shape with the transformation of the society. Some postmodern features appear in the field of Chinese consumption. Therefore, systematic research on postmodern consumption culture theory is necessary and beneficial for its future development. Furthermore, It supplies instructions for the construction of Chinese consumption culture and consumption activities.This dissertation regards consumption culture in postmodern society as postmodern consumption culture.It integrates many consumption culture theories from postmodern thinkers into postmodern consumption culture theory. It gives us a systematic description of main idea of the postmodern consumption culture theory from Macro-perspective. And It analyzes views of the representatives of this theory from Micro-perspective. This dissertation was made of six parts. The first part is preface. The second part analyzes the society and culture background from which postmodern consumption culture theory evolves. The third part is about discussion on the theoretical sources of postmodern consumption culture theory. Western Marxist, some sociologists, Cultural scholars and the Approach of semiology, make their own contribution to it.The fourth part summarizes main ideas of this theory. The fifth part summarizes postmodern consumption culture views of Baudrillard, Bourdieu, Bell, Jameson and Featherstone from micro-perspective. Finally, it gives some comments on the postmodern consumption culture theory.
