With the improvement of contemporary women's political, social and economic status, more and more women have been participating in travels. The female market has become the new darling of the tourism industry, with great potential. The understanding of tourist behavior is the basis of marketing policy. Gender, has been and will continue to be an important and frequently used segment variable in marketing. Tourism development and all aspects of tourism activities are also involved in the concept of gender. Understanding gender differences in tourist behavior is of great guidance to the targeted development of the two separate segments in the city of Urumqi, and by means of Statistical Product and Service Solutions-SPSS, the paper statistically tested and analyzed the relationship between gender and tourist behavior by descriptive statistics, Mean Difference Test (t test) and Chi-square Test and etc, and gave an explanation of possible reasons. Based on the above, targeted suggestion and measures for the development of female market in Urumqi was put forward.Results have shown that male and female tourists differ significantly in tourist motivation, tourist information collecting behavior and tourist preferences. Compared with the male ones: (1) The female tourists have high requirements in relaxing, understanding of local customs and shopping; (2) The recommendation of friends and family is the main tourist information source of female tourists; (3) The female tourists in collecting the information on climate and weather; (4) Tourist destinations about folk custom and shopping are loving things for female tourists; (5) The female tourists tend to choose the travel mode of"with couple"; (6) The female tourists prefer in the tourist activities of walking and taking photos in destinations.
