As a representative of the concept and target of the modern power grid construction, Smart Grid is the application of any general power of new technologies, integrating and fusing a variety of technologies in power transmission and distribution system. As the key of power transformation link, smart substation has important implications for building Smart Grid.As the realization of primary equipment intellectualization, the typical component and the structural basis of smart substation, intelligent primary equipment will be the access platform to all kinds of intelligent unit which is the application terminal of specific intelligent technology.This paper puts forward a design proposal of the framework and work principle of intelligent primary equipment, and studies the modular structure, function and configuration of intelligent combination. Feasibility argumentation of substation structure and manufacturing integration shows certain technical foundation of this program. Meanwhile, the intelligent unit and the cooperation are designed and studied to fulfill the various requirements of primary equipment intellectualization. Thus, to demonstrate the outstanding effects of the cooperation and intelligent technology to grid and device in power system, the paper studies the plan of the equipment cooperation, then analyses and simulates the implementation of the phase selection technology in unit cooperation. In addition, the study of these designs'impact to condition monitor and sequential operation was extended, and put forward the corresponding optimization. Finally, to achieve the forward-looking, the long-term prospect of smart substation is projected, whose plan and applications are given.In this paper, the exploratory research and cutting-edge design of primary equipment intellectualization will provide an idea and reference to its follow-up research and development.
