The Strategic Research On Container Terminals Development At Caofeidian Port Area Of Tangshan Port

Transportation by container has become more and more important way in international transport pattern since 90s, 20th century. The position establishment of international port in the world depends on general capability and practice level. The classification of the international shipping center, fundamental ports along main line (international transfer ports), the international hinge ports in local area and other ports along branch lines, supporting ports mainly depends on the container throughput. Therefore, it's important to research that how to develop the container terminals in order to make the development of Caofeidian Port Area more reasonable, and realize the strategic aim of large terminal, large steel industry, large petroleum&chemical industry and large electric power.This article begins with the development of container transport at home and abroad. First, the developmental pattern of container terminal and all kinds of methods for strategic analysis are summarized. Second, the internal and external surroundings affecting the development of the port are deeply analyzed, which is based on the current situation of development of container transport at Caofeidian Port Area. At the same time, the existing shortages are pointed out in container transport at Caofeidian Port Area. It's completed that the container throughput is analyzed and predicted. Thirdly, the SWOT Analysis Method is adopted when analyzing the internal and external Conditions, which affect the development of container terminals. And the strategic choice is made. At last, the aim, the train of thought, the construction time, the policy supporting and the management pattern of the development of container transport at Caofeidian Port Area are proposed.
