It gives us a lot of pressures that economic develop rapidly, population grows, and urbanization of the city increases in our country. The rapid development of the economic is motivating the growing commercial prosperity, and is expanding the needs of the outdoor advertising. As an important media integrated with cultural phenomenon, commercial means and advanced technologies, outdoor advertising not only bring our city a new trend, but also bring about a series of urban problems. In this paper, the current status of urban outdoor advertising is first analyzed carefully. Then, we elaborate some principles and improved suggestions of urban outdoor advertising from the three aspects of standardized, diversified, sustainable design. Finally, research results are demonstrated through case study analysis.Development of urban outdoor advertising can promote economic development, and enhance the city's quality. For our city, a good urban outdoor advertising may be a unique piece of poster and our city's card. However, if the urban outdoor advertisings put up unreasonable and their designs are in a low level, they will play a negative role. Therefore, we should have a reasonable plan of setting urban outdoor advertisings, and control the design of outdoor advertisings by adopting certain norms.Urban outdoor advertising is a part of urban information system. In this paper, the setting specifications and disciplines of urban public information system are proposed. The internal relations of the setting specifications and disciplines with urban function are described. Combining with current relevant state laws and regulations, several key points are induced for standardizing the current settings and designs of outdoor advertising.Outdoor advertising has a long history. At present, its scope has become increasingly broad. Through research on the relationship of outdoor advertising with the architectural, the application of the materials and production processes, the diversification of routes of transmission, and its fusion with the urban various cultural characteristics, we elaborate a development way of diversification of the urban outdoor advertising.In view of acceleration of urbanization process and sustainability of outdoor advertising, this paper describe four areas as following: such as controlling the sources of pollution, controlling the effective area and scale of outdoor advertisements, the use of eco-friendly materials, advanced manufacturing technologies of outdoor advertising.Finally, we respectively analyze the setting examples of outdoor advertising in Zhenjiang City and the setting planning of outdoor advertising in Changsha City by employing the above theories...
